Starlite: Where music, culture and gastronomy coexist in one unique space.

Starlite Festival, which is now called Starlite Catalana Occidente, is one of the best boutique festival in Europe. This year, after 9 editions, it is the longest-lasting event in history (June 18 – Sept. 4) with more than 55 concerts.

Being one of the few emblematic festivals that has been held worldwide, it leads the new era of CovidFree concerts. The summer 2020 has shown that it could be made safe due to the nature of the open air venue, with social distancing measures.

LOCATION.

Starlite takes place at the Nagüeles Quarry. An open space stage is surrounded by 60 metre-high rock walls, which creates extraordinary acoustics and a special atmosphere beneath the stars for the 2,200 guests. Auditorium stage offers numbered seats divided into grandstand, stalls and 8-seater “Bubble Boxes” boxes with premium service.

Sessions area is a more casual space, arranged with VIP-areas and tables for groups where you can enjoy the shows and after parties.

Two different spaces have a common goal: to create a unique experience that will last forever!

It is located at the high part of the Sierra Blanca Urb., 3.5 km from Marbella centre, 15 min. from Puerto Banús and 20 min. from Perlas del Mar (11,7 km). Cars (except for VIP-attendees) are parked away and minibuses shuttle guests up and down the hill.

PLÁCIDO DOMINGO & JULIO IGLESIAS AT STARLITE MARBELLA FESTIVAL

HISTORY.

The first use of the quarry site above Marbella was in 1983. 3 visionaries, Alfonso Hohenlohe, who founded Marbella Club Hotel, Julio Iglesias and Plácido Domingo, decided to create the open-air Auditorio de Marbella for an internationally-renowned music festival. They held a successful Tenor’s Concert, however the annual festival didn’t happen. The venue was abandoned for nearly 30 years.

In 2012 the quarry site was cleaned up and a new auditorium constructed for inaugural Marbella’s Starlite Festival. The 2017 edition was overshadowed by a license dispute with Marbella Town Hall, and ‘Marbella’ was removed from the festival’s name and logo.
